Capt. (R) Sunny Mathews joined the Malaysian Armed Forces upon completing his secondary education and was commissioned as an officer in various appointments from 1974 to 1987. He consequently found his passion in law and left the army to pursue his higher education in England. In 1994, he became a founding managing partner of Messrs Soraya Chuah & Associates and remained so until year 2014. He subsequently joined S. Mathews & Associates as a partner in 2015. As an Advocate & Solicitor, Capt. (R) Sunny Mathews has attended to a wide variety of banking litigation and advisory matters especially in regards to and Debt Recovery for Credit Card/Hire-Purchase/Housing Loan, Foreclosure and Execution Proceedings for Ambank (M) Berhad and Public Bank Berhad.

Capt (R) Sunny Mathews is also heavily involved in Conveyancing practice where he attends drafting of the Sale and Purchase Agreements for land/property and securing the financing of the purchase thereof. Some of the banks he has represented include:
